Following an extensive developer beta process, Apple has just released OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 to end users. Apple this year announced for the first time that AirPods users would be able to install beta firmware on their earphones to try out new features before the official release this fall. Update: The update fixes a serious security exploit that exposed contacts, texts, calls, and emails. Apple today released the iOS 9.3.5 software update for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The bug fix update follows the recent release of iOS 9.3.4, which closed a recent jailbreak hole, and iOS 9.3.3, which was tested for several weeks and also included bug fixes. iOS 9.3.5 could also be the last update to iOS 9 devices and the last iOS 9 update in general before iOS 10 is released this fall....

Apple released iOS 4.3.4 (build 8K2) fixing a PDF exploit which makes possible wireless jailbreaking by visiting the JailbreakMe.com web-tool in mobile Safari. The exploit could also be used to inject and execute any code on iOS devices. The iOS 4.3.4 download is now available through iTunes for the iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 1 and 2 and third- and fourth-generation iPod touch. Verizon iPhone users will get the same fix via the iOS 4....

Apple last month announced its new “Today at Apple” retail initiative that sees it put a heavier focus on educational and creative classes in its stores. Now, Apple has launched a new “Today at Apple” website dedicated to the retail efforts… On the website, Apple allows customers to view a schedule of upcoming classes and events, as well as to RSVP for ones in which they may be interested. Earlier this year, Apple had been testing a new feature to let developers charge increased prices for auto-renewable subscriptions. Although this “pilot program” was restricted to selected developers, Apple is now rolling out these changes to everyone – although it has some limits. Currently, when the developer increases the price of an auto-renewable subscription, users must confirm that they will continue subscribing at the new price, otherwise the subscription is cancelled automatically....

During the company’s Q1 2017 earnings call today, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced some new milestones for Apple Pay. The company also confirmed that Comcast would soon begin accepting Apple Pay on the web for bill payments. The Comcast news came alongside some stats for Apple Pay and other services shared by the company today. Cook confirmed that the number of Apple Pay users has tripled over the last year while noting billions in transactions during the December quarter alone....
